Hamptons Guide: Tutto Il Giorno

Tutto Il Giorno

Address | 16 Main St, Sag Harbor, NY 11963

Our Hamptons Guide continues with an outdoor dinning experience at Tutto Il Giorno in Sag Harbor, NY. As a Chef, I’m always seeking out culinary inspiration to bring back to the kitchen with me and so I took advantage of cool fall weather to have an outdoor dinning lunch date with my wife at Tutto Il Giorno.

Tutto Il Giorno boasts three locations—the other two in Tribeca/Manhattan and Southampton, respectively. I chose to visit the Sag Harbor location because it is the coastal village where I currently live, and because they have a great outdoor set up. There are two large outdoor dinning patios situated on either side of the main building. This dinning experience has you seated among lush greenery. To one side there is the Sag Harbor marina and to the other the shops and cafes of Sag Harbor Village.

Plush white throws are drapped over each of the seats at the table. It’s a chic touch that adds warmth to dinning outdoors in the autumn and blends into the overall modern natural aesthetic of the restaurant. To begin your meal, they have a nice selection of cocktails and wines. Pick your poison and relax over good conversation while you wait for your courses to be served.

We ordered a couple of classic dishes. The Nizzarda salad (Niçoise Salad, grilled tuna atop rucola, tomatoes, potatoes, hard boiled eggs) was a clean and tasty dish. With potatoes and medium rare grilled tuna steak, this salad is hearty enough to enjoy as a main course. We also ordered the Branzino Acqua Pazza—which means crazy water— (Branzino poached in a tomato, celery and olive oil broth, spinach). This was also a light but satisfying dish. The fish was well prepared and the vegetables in the broth paired well. The broth itself could have had a little more flavor, more acid, but overall it was a good dish.

Dolce! For some reason when the dessert options were given I was very much in the mood for something sweet and everything sounded like a dessert I would like to try. We settled on three. The Tiramisu (photographed above), the chocolate + pear crostata, and pistachio gelato (below). All three were delicious. Pair with an espresso and you’ve had the perfect meal.

With my kids here this school year, my wife and I have made carving out a little time each week for a date more intentional. Looking forward to trying some more places in the area and of course, I’ll let you know how they fare. Happy travels and happy eating!
